Despite the fact that BtS adds and changes many things, I've noticed that it's all really integrated really well. After a few games it just felt that all of the new changes and features were always there.

A good example is the siege nerf, when I first heard about I thought I would completely have to change my game but in practice it actually wasn't all that big of a deal. It did help that even before BtS I treated siege units as support units and didn't have stacks of nothing but cats and trebs roaming the map.

Actually with the flank attacks + siege nerf is the biggest change in the game. But then I used to treat siege as primary units. Heck I used to attatch my GG to them for the extra movement so they could move with the mobile units. Now I never do that since they're more vulnerable with flank attacks.

But I do also agree that the changes were integrated quite well.

Does drill protect against flanking damage?

Drill eventually protects a percentage against collateral damage which I don't believe is considered the same as a flank attack. And since horse type units are immune to first strike...... Unless it's drill4 where there is a 10% bonus against mounted units.

What I was getting at was whether it would protect against flanking damage if you promote your warlord/siege unit up the drill line. Sounds like it wouldn't.

Honestly I haven't run into a lot of problem with that in SP (MP is a different story of course). But I always have sufficient pikes (etc) in my siege stacks. Yeah, I know, you were talking move 2 stacks. I guess you could do musketeers
