  • Espionage Points

What happens to your Espionage Points against a civ when they are destroyed?

For example, you dedicate 50% of your EP against Shaka, then Catherine destroys Shaka. He is no longer on the Espionage Screen. Are all those points lost?
And indeed there will be time To wonder, "Do I dare?" and, "Do I dare?". t s eliot

    From My experience, toast.
When I start a campaign against an AI (or know it's imminent) I usually drop then down to 0 weight and use what I have against them. Use em or lose em

I wish there were a no espionage option. I find it irritating.

i agree with egavactip. It's hard enough fending off aggressive civs without being notified that your town or village has been destroyed ... over and over.

You could mod espionage out fairly simply - just make every single ESP active mission cost MAXLONG esp points (assuming that's a long int - if it's a regular int, MAXINT). Even 32000 ESP/mission would make sure you would rarely if ever see an ESP mission go against you. It's a simple XML file fix, iirc. Or, remove the active missions entirely - or the ones that annoy you, at least.

It would hamstring the AI, because the AI tends to spend a bit on ESP and this wouldn't change that. You could allay that somewhat by allowing it a few missions that aren't annoying (like, steal tech - that would be the best since it would allow the AI to just spend ESP instead of beakers for tech, not a big difference); or just play a difficulty level higher

So, use more points for espionage, build spies, and use them on counter espionage.

I'd like to see, if someone takes out a civ I've invested esp in, some of that esp go into the one, who took it out. I mean, it's still a spy network in the now-occupied new cities of the out taker civ.
I've allways wanted to play "Russ Meyer's Civilization"

              Good idea.
