    Apostolic Palace

    I've a question about holy wars and vassals:

    If a capitulated vassal is a different religion (the apostolic palace religion) from its master, and the owner of the palace is at war with the master and successfully votes for war with the master, does the vassal go to war and break the capitulated vassalage? Which takes precedence: the palace or the vassalage? Thanks!

    The vassalage I believe. A vassal state can not declare war on it's own, it can only follow the lead of it's master and do as it does. Though I've never seen that particular situation come up so I can't be 100% certain.

        Well, on a side note...in a couple of my games where I was the "Pope" if you will for the Apostolic Palace, my vassals voted on their own - ie, they went against my proposed resolutions...Damned Vassels! They always think that they have a mind of there own!

        However, concerning WAR against myself - my vassels have always towed the line and joined the endevour on my side.

          Vassels have always voted on resolutions on their own with the exception of diplomatic victory. In that case they will always vote on their master.

            I've never seen the Vassal break its bonds and go to war against its Master. But I have seen the Vassal vote against the Master all the time.

              I have. Not because he got bigger, but because he got smaller and my culture was pushing in too much. I remember being surprised that culture pressure from the master could actually cause a vassal to break free, but then I went into civopedia and read the fine print of the vassal rule, and sure enough....
