    When I'm sure about a cultural win, I push the slider as high as I can. The faster you get that victory, the higher your score.

      Population at time a victory is also a factor though, so if your empire is still growing a balance would be struck to optimize scores.

      Also I note that in my latest complete game (Holiday Surprize) the culture I was getting from Sushi's drawfed the cultural slider, so that's really the way to go on heavy ocean maps.

        For that matter, isn't technology at time of victory also a factor?

          But finishing the game earlier can also have an effect on your RL-score, once THAT game finishes...

            Oh yeah, I know. I just mean that "getting another tech or two" at the end of game might be better score-wise then "pumping up culture and getting a few more squares of land under your control"
