  • Apolyton members occupation?

I have enjoyed reading this site since last summer. The more I read, I agree with some, disagree with some, and really wonder about others. So I was just wondering how many of you work as computer people (programmers, engineers, etc) and how many of you are history nerds like me, ( I teach World History and on weekends work at an American Civil War battlefield.) Anyway just wondering?
    Thanks,
    Dilger

You can click on the profile to the right of the time/date stamp in the post to find ot about a member (at least what they want you to know).

As for me, I work at Cal Poly (California Polytechnic State University) in San Luis Obispo as a UNIX Systems Administrator, but was a dual Math/History major.
And indeed there will be time To wonder, "Do I dare?" and, "Do I dare?". t s eliot

I work in a technical job and history is one of hobbies so that's not an unfair assessment. I'm sure with enough responses we'll be sure to seem some pretty interesting trends. Civ isn't an average game for your average gamer.

I had a major in math (loooooong, long time ago), and work as a political cartoonist for the last 24 years (take a look at my sign)... And I make an extra buck playing my sax.
And history, of course, is one of my hobbies...

i survived a decade in the streets with lots of partying, fights and general bad decisions. I am alive to tell the tale generally by being extremely charismatic and "leading the pack". I bring a different approach to Civ and these boards in general.

Currently I am in on-the-job management training as well as having my OSHA Photo Certification

I have a comp sci degree and a history degree...

both probably because of being raised on Civ

But now I'm a code monkey.

I've been with Apolyton since 1999 and was drawn here by the great community. I love SF - and in particular SMAC. I also enjoy history. By profession I'm a hydrogeologist.

I don't know why he saved my life. Maybe in those last moments he loved life more than he ever had before. Not just his life - anybody's life, my life. All he'd wanted were the same answers the rest of us want. Where did I come from? Where am I going? How long have I got? All I could do was sit there and watch him die.
