  • Worst Leader

When I play civ, I like to play with random leaders. I was wondering who y'all thought was the worst leader.
I suppose for myself that I dislike Tokugawa. It seems to me that a nation isolated for so long would do better on an island start. Recently, I found myself alone on an island and his traits left me further behind then I was used to. Samurais are nice...not so sure about the shale plant...though I admit I never got that far...

    They're all equally good.

The worst leader in civ is me.

Toku has powerful gunpowder units and samurai is great, but he certainly is one-dimensional leader (war) and one the worst leaders to play when isolated.

Charlemagne is probably weakest leader with IMP/PRO combo, but HRE UB is great and i've heard that landsknecht has it's uses as well.

I don't know that I have an opinion on 'worst leader'. Pretty much every leader is playable in some fashion...

I suppose whomever is CRE/ORG is the least useful trait combo to me, but even that is quite useful played in its own way, it's just the furthest away from my style.

I was never big on creative until I realized they get 1/2 cost libraries. Sometime in the near future (after I play Bodicea) I'm gonna try the Dutch. CRE/FIN sounds like it could give Musa a peaceful run for his money.

I think that opinion in the United States is decidedly different from the rest of the world because we have a free press -- by free, I mean a virgorously presented right wing point of view on the air and available to all.- Ned

This would be my vote for worst leader. IMP and PRO are both terrible traits (the 1st and 2nd worst, in my opinion).

That would be Zara (BtS) or Augustus (Warlords). In my opinion, one the best combos with so many cheap buildings, cheaper civics upkeep and quick border pops. It's funny how different opinions people have...

I don't build as many buildings - even libraries and even courthouses - anymore, so probably that's why...

I don't like playing as Tokugawa, mostly because I dislike his UB. Samurai is a pretty good UU though.

Isabella would be the one that´s farthest from my style of play.

I personally don't like Protective Leaders at all and usually find myself restarting if I random one of them. Also, combinations that in my opinion don't fit well together such as Alexander's AGG/PHI often make me restart.

Worst one is hands down Charlemagne, with PRO/IMP. Even his UB doesn't make up for that mess.

Charles might be good if you get the Great Wall. Declare war on your neighbors and let them invade. PRO holds them off and IMP gives you Great Generals a'plenty.

                            There are no worst leaders.

There are only players who use a playstyle unsuited to a leader's characteristics, the map, and/or other game idiosyncrasies.

                            ...something to think about....

AGG/IMP is the worst combo for me. Actally I dislike aggressive immensely. Gengis Khan then would be a VERY weak leader IMHO. He is WAY too resourse-dependant to be effective at all for early rushes. IMP is a useless trait as well, i will just be Philo and get other USEFUL specailists. What are you going to do...? Restart until you get your horses, Bronze or Iron? That makes YOU a weak Civ player as well IMHO.

Whereas MY protective trait i use my archers like cheap Pre-catapult suicide units and crush any early neighbor before i even get bronze working. Check my Archer-Rush threads if you dont believe me...
