  • Diplomacy question. I'm a villian?

I happened to notice a negative diplomacy modifier when talking to someone that went along the lines of 'you're a villian'. It was a -5 too

I forgot to check the other leaders to see if it was a general consensus, and it disappeared next time I looked.

Can anyone enlighten my black and evil heart? Is it because I've vassalized most of the world, or everyone hates me, or a temporary one for defying a resolution?

I don't think I'm going to get that diplomatic win this game

I haven't had it, but I noticed one of my enemy civs had it after I sent a spy into his city to foment dissent. Perhaps that's what happened to you.

I think that opinion in the United States is decidedly different from the rest of the world because we have a free press -- by free, I mean a virgorously presented right wing point of view on the air and available to all.- Ned

"World considers you a villain" = you denied AP or UN resolution, by choosing option "Never!".

          Thanks Julian.

Any idea how long it lasts for? It was obviously fairly short, just wondering if it's 1 turn or til the next resolution vote perhaps.

And on that same sort of note...

If a UN resolution passes for a global civic, it appears the other civics in that category become permanently unavailable.

Is it possible to ever re-instate a communist government after Environmentalism is voted in?

Can you choose to re-vote the resolution again, and if it fails that time the other civics become available?

Seems to do a good job of eliminating the defence against corporations.

you're considered a villain (which includes a demotion from full-member to voting member in the AP) until you vote Yes for a proposal that passes.

if you defy another vote while you're still considered a villain for the first time, the -5 penalties stack. note that you only get those mad faces in cities where the AP religion is present. i see folks say "until you vote for a resolution that passes". that can't be the only way to end it. surely i'm not the only one evil enough to think "okay, i'll get so-and-so to defy a vote and then never hold another vote!" a source who can read code told me that the "you're a villain" penalty lasts 20 turns (normal speed) if you don't/can't vote yes on a proposal in the meantime. i can't read code so i can't point you to it or say for sure. 20 sounds like more than long enough to me, i'd be hoping for something to vote Yes on in the meantime.

it is possible to have new vote on resolutions which passed or failed earlier, including UN civic votes. when you are APResident / UNSecGen and choose what put up for a vote, you are not allowed to Defy your own proposals. so in your example, even if you really really environmentalism to fail this time, you can put it up for a vote but you cannot as SG defy it to make sure that it fails.
