  • BtS wins IGN's Best Expansion

Firaxis's Beyond the Sword packs in enough new game concepts to qualify as a full-on sequel. It offers new strategies by beefing up the religion and espionage systems and adding in new rules for colonies and resource-specific corporations. If that's not enough, you can also throw in better AI, more combat options, and loads of other toys that make the original game even more fun.

Recall that Burning Crusade for WoW came out in January of this year as well, so BtS beat out some tough competition.
“I give you a new commandment, that you love one another. Just as I have loved you, you also should love one another. By this everyone will know that you are my disciples, if you have love for one another.”
    - John 13:34-35 (NRSV)

The only "Best Expansion Award" I really care about is the one generated by my own continuing addiction to the game.

However, this is very cool. Congratulations to Firaxis. Fame is yours. Run with the momemtum and realease another expansion. Or at least another patch! Anything!!! [another civ addict going crazy, sorry]

Indeed, congratulations. I hope you all get a bonus in your paychecks. Plus one happy face to all.

Honestly, I don't know if I'd call it the best of the year, but who cares, it's still a darned good one and a welcome addition to the core game

Pretty hard to think of a better expansion for any game this year, in terms of adding dimension to gameplay.

I'd offer up an opinion, but I think I'd be wasting my breath Either way, BtS was great and definitely one of the best releases of the year, expansion or not.

It refreshed an already great game. I've been playing more civ (if that's possible) because of BtS... Both SP and MP.
                  Keep on Civin'
