Barabarian faction

Are the barbarians considered as one empire or seperate one city groups, i was playing a continents map once and i had to go to the second continent in order to destroy a city, it turns out that the continenent was swarming with barbarian cities, i captured the enemy city adn then started trying to kill off alll the barbarians. but a couple times i saw a barbarian unit walk into another barbarian, and then the other unit disappeared, or i didnt see two dots above the flag, can someone please clarify.



P.S. yes i did kill off alll the barbarains, wasnt hard

For game engine purposes the barbarians are all of the same civ.

Both. They're basically one civ as far as the game is concerned, but they don't have a central leader or capital. Each city is independant, though they never fight each other and always join forces against the other civs.
