  • Apostolic Palace/UN Elections interval

What is the year interval (or turns interval?) from the first election to the next? And how often does the voting for individual items take place?
Also when the Apostolic Palace becomes obsolete, the election still takes place?

if i'm reading the .xml correctly (never a sure thing), the UN votes can pop up every 4 turns, AP every 8 turns.

for UN votes, there's always something you could put up for a vote, so the box will pop up every vote cycle. you can choose not to hold a vote, but you do get a box to remind you that the UN is there.

but the AP is entirely different, because what you can vote on depends on what's happening in the world. there aren't "always available" options like no-nukes and force-civics. so even tho there's an 8 turn (i think) cycle, sometimes no vote options come up for dozens and dozens of turns because none of the resolutions apply. no eligible wars to start or stop, no cities to assign to rightful owner, etc. i suppose sometimes nobody with the AP religion as their state religion so there's no candidate for Resident except the builder, to even have votes about the Resident? never bothered to think about that last one until this minute.

AP elections don't come up after the AP is obsolete, but it can still be active while the UN is active. the AP only goes obsolete when the person who owns the city that the building is in learns Mass Media. MM is completely skippable if you don't need broadcast towers (which is why i adore Eiffel Tower, which comes earlier at Radio) and are willing to skip Hollywood and Creative Jewelers. it's a total dead-end tech except for letting you build those 3 things and obsoleting the AP. i love having the AP as a "get out of war free" option, and for messing with AI minds, and i like to get Mining Inc (which competes with Creative Jewelers). so if i control the AP, i skip MM entirely, and just put science to 0 and learn future techs if i'm not done with the game yet .

i don't know what happens in a case like: shaka owns the town of Toledo, where the AP is, and he learns MM so the AP goes obsolete. then monty captures Toledo, but monty never learned MM. does the AP come back to life, because it's not obsolete for monty?
