  • Map type request

Inland sea is fun, but I really like in inland sea or two in continents that are surrounded by oceans. Like the Med and Baltic actually are. Hmm, of course those could be considered not inland as they both have small access points. Still, they work for what I'm looking for. Inland seas with small access makes the map a bit more fun.

    LandMasses

It's not a guaranteed feature of these maps, but you can set the options to increase the likelihood of inland seas and Mediterranean-like seas. Actually, the settings I use which govern land shape - listed below - frequently produce such features.

    128 width x 80 height
    3 land masses
    9 continents
Even continent distribution and normal continent placement
    65% ocean
    Rougher coastlines

Thedrin, are you getting those choices in 'custom game'? Are you using BTS? Because I don't get all those choices with Warlords.

        What are you getting?

The last version of the script was uploaded before BtS was released. It should work fine with Warlords (with which all development was done). The map is only available in the custom game set up menu.

Occasionally the options don't appear for me when I select the map. This is resolved by selecting another map type and then reselecting LandMasses.

The lay out of the options doesn't exactly match how I've written them above.

The available options, in order and excluding standard options such as climate and speed, should be:

        Min. Width
        Max. Width
        Min. Height
        Max. Height
        Min. Land Masses
        Max. Land Masses
        Min. Continents
        Max. Continents
        Continent Distribution
        Continent Placement
        Min. Land Mass Buffer
        Max. Land Mass Buffer
        Min. Ocean
        Max. Ocean
        Coastlines
        Hills
        Peaks
        Mountain Ranges
        Terrain
        Terrain Homogeneity
        Woodlands
        Flood Plains
        Resources
        Resource Land Masses
        How Many Land Masses
        Resource Tiles
        Strategic Quantities
        Health Quantities
        Luxury Quantities

                Download the script.
Place it into the Public Maps folder of the Civ IV version you're using.
                Start up Civ IV.
                Select Single Player,
                -> Custom Game
For the Map option under Settings, select LandMasses.

                And go from there.
