The Dutch are really a great civ to play as on a water map. Quite good UU and UB.

        Fast Worker
        War Chariots
        Praets.

Congratulations to all those who got it right

          Skirmisher, great archer.
Samurai? Maybe. I'd prefer the good and old Impi.

Anyone who's been warchariotrushed will admit to war chariots being high on the list I suspect more people lose to warchariotrushes than to praets in MP ...

Not just in MP, warchariots are lethal in SP too.

I love them, in fact, I love the Dutch. They are my new favourite civ now. And I'm really happy they are in the game. Liz used to be my fav, but now it's the Dutch.

Yeah, they're very effective, but horseback riding is so expensive, and it's a dead end tech that dosn't do anything for your economy; wheras bronze working/iron working not only give you axes/swords, they also give you slavery, chop, and jungle clearing, and set you up for other technologies.

Keshik rushes can be very effective from a strictly millitary point of view, but every time I've tried it my entire economy crashes and burns, because I've spent all my research on a technology that dosn't help my ecomony, and I have a huge empire but no cottages, no libraries, no religion, and no bronzeworking.

Keshiks still aren't bad, they're effective for a long time, but I don't try to get them early anymore.

Catapults are not involved in a good/lucky praet rush. Beeline to IW, hookup fish, hookup iron, popchop Praets, conquer a civ or three. I do it from just two cities sometime (capital and iron city). On an arch map I'll get sailing ASAP to hookup all coastal cities.

The AI still sucks at field combat. Buffed Praets hammer axes in cities. Don't forget that 50% melee bonus still leaves them at 7.5 vs. Praets 8. If you catch the axes on a low defense tile it is about even odds. Keep your prate stack on hills and forests. Etc. Etc.
                        Got my new computer!!!!

With Prats, or even with basic swords, my goal is to beeline to it ASAP, and then crush whichever AI dosn't have axes yet. If you go right to swords, then there always seems to be one AI near me who's still using archers to fortify all of his cities, either because he dosn't have the tech yet or just becasue he dosn't have any copper, and defending archers are almost useless against swords or Prats.

What you also failed to mention, Zerkers KEEP there benefit the entire game. One of the few UU's that never become obsolete, as the amphibios stays after you upgrade... city attack3 amphibs... nice.

But i just LOVE the samurai. they look cool and if you can pull off building them at 100ad, those first strikes really help against archers and axes. =)

That's what I love about these ancestors of mine as well

I don't have a particular favourite UU, at least not yet, eventhough some of them, like the bezerkers, are wuite high on my list. Some I hardly try out because I simply don't play their civs
