Need some help!!!!

I have just installed Civ4 BTS.. updated all drivers and updates etc.

but when i start up my graphics are screwed up.. can anyone tell me what may cause this problem? I have tried to reinstall.. clear cache update again.. but now Im out of ideas..

Does your graphics card have T&L/compatible for T&L?
(I beleive T&L stands for Texture and Lighting...but somene will correct me if I'm wrong)

Transform and Lighting yes my card is fully competable with t/l...

This is really annoying.. I have never had a problem like this before.. no other game has caused so much trouble as this expansion..

Any other ideas.. ?

and fully updated.. like everything else in my computer.. (like to keep things in the best shape)

That purple is the color of missing textures. It probably means some graphics files are missing/corrupt, if there are no graphics card issues (it's possible the driver you have for your ATI card is bad - you might need to roll back to an earlier driver).

I'd recommend trying the bluemarble mod, not only because it has better graphics, but because it will replace many graphics files - if it fixes the problem, then it means your graphics files are corrupted.

Google 'bluemarble civ4' and you'll find it. It doesn't affect gameplay at all (doesn't even require 'loading' a mod), it just provides its own files for the various map textures.)

Are the purple tiles all forests (or all one type of land)?

I also highly recommend Blue Marble. Easy to install, and great looking terrain.

I'd reinstall, Snoopy's right - it looks like the graphics files that define the shading on the fog are broken.

He's already reinstalled once, so it's possible the installation device (cd/direct2drive/steam) is not right...

It's not the fog, because the fog is fine, only the tiles he should be able to see It's likely the forest tiles, based on the shape of the purple.

Good Lord, time to upgrade. That card is ancient. I had one when I first got the game and it ran terribly on it. I now have a GeForce 7950 and the game runs as smooth as silk.

But yes, pink blotches are usually an indication of missing or corrupt texture files.

ok i will try to the blue marble...

hehe yes my graphic card is old.. no doubt about it.. but the game it self runs fine.. i have no problems whatsoever.. other than the purple forests

Out of curiousity, does Civ4 vanilla (no expansion), or Warlords if you have it, play okay?

ohh yes Everything has worked fine.. untill I installed BTS... Im a huge fan of civ and has played all the way back from the first game.. And that's why its a pain in the a.. that i have so many problems with bts..

And for the record.. i run everything in max and it workes fine.. all though my comp is a bit ancient ..

anyways the blue marble didn't change anything regarding the purple.. so now i will make one final attempt to get this work.. by reinstalling or else the game will go back to the store tomorrow!! cant find any other errors.. due to the fact everything else runs smoothly on my system.. except BTS

Finally.. the third reinstall and everything works perfectly.. and the bluemarble mod is really a great addition..
