It's in the Custom games menu -- just check the box marked "No Random Events".

You clear the cache by holding 'shift' down on startup... unless there's more that I'm not aware of.

Uninstalling/reinstalling may not clear it, so hold down shift as you start just in case.

In that optic, if I want to pursue the game I am playing right now, but I can't uncheck the Events options when I load up the save, what can I do ? Is there any way to unactivate this option ?

Absent some sort of hack of the savegame file (or, I suppose, removing CIV4EventTriggerInfos.xml from the \Assets\XML\Events path -- though I don't know for sure if the game will load properly without that file, so for the love of god I take no responsibility for any game devastation that occurs if you try that idea,) you can only enable/disable random events at the start up.
