  • Very odd occurence...

Im currently in a war with russia in BTS, and it seems like every time they attack st. petersburg (particulary with a cossack) the game suddenly encounters an error and shuts down.
Ive tried reloading from an earlier save and playing the game differently, and for a while it worked, but it keeps happening.
Has this ever happened to anyone else? Im not positive if an attack on st. petersburg triggers it, but Im dumbfounded as to what else could do it.
Is there some patch I could download or something? I would hate having to start a new one since it takes a while for me to find a map I like and settle with it.

Don't have a clue why this would be happening. As to the patch, the most recent one came out about a month ago and may help.

I've had that happen a couple of times. But only when I was playing on very large worlds, with tons of civs, and very later in the game when there were tons of units of the board. I would go back to an older save, and also do things differently, but eventually the game would shut down. However, it was rare, and it hasn't happened since I've downloaded the latest patch.

Can you post a save game right before it crashes? I can try it on my computer (patch 3.13 + the unofficial one) and we can see if I also get the problem.

I've seen this too, always on large or huge maps, with anywhere from 9 or more civs. The game gets to a point somewhere in the late middle ages or later and then just starts exiting from time to time. Sometimes it's triggered by a particular unit move, or sometimes even by trying to save the game - I hit ctrl-S and suddenly I'm back at my desktop.

Usually I can go back a couple of saves, play differently, and keep going - but it will keep happening sporadically until I finish the game.

I don't have any saves at the moment, but if I run across it again I'll post it here. Also, I don't think it's happened since I loaded the latest patch - but I've only played 2 or 3 games since then.
