  • If I set up a game in custom, then regenerate map...

...will the extra civs I added still be included in the new map?

    Should be.

I agree, but based on some small experience I'm uncertain. I suppose I could check by seeing if the save game file size changes...

My question would be, if you're playing continents, would the same civs be on the same continents or could they change when you regenerate. I've never tested that.

Is there a way to test that without going through endless play?

Btw, I just had a warrior hit by two lions in one turn. It killed both and didn't get upgraded or suffer any damage. I wonder if the upgrade is dependant on damage?

No. Did it already have 5 xp? Animals can't give you beyond 5 (and barbs can't give you beyond 10).

Regenerate map regenerates a map with the same exact settings, civs included. It will not keep civilizations on the same continent necessarily, as far as I know, unless there is a reason they're together (team play).

I assumed that was the case, but you never know unless you test, or ASK.

I dunno how many points it had then, but I know it got some from a hut. If those count toward the animal total it might well have had its 5 pts. Thx Snoopy, that would explain it.

To test open the worldbuilder and count how many civs there are :P.

Not to imply that I restart a lot, but...

I set up a game with a map that has several option screens (peaks, lakes, etc).

I decide to restart, but instead of hitting regenerate map, I quit to main menu so I can see my options again.

If I then go back and set up the same type of map, the game will skip some, if not all, of the set-up option screens (i.e. I never see the Massive/Normal/Snaky continents screen or the small lakes/large lakes/inland seas screen)

                        Design or bug?

What choices you have depends on earlier choices. If you don't choose continents, then you don't choose continent types either. I often choose fractal, which often has more than one continent, but the system could care less about my preference in that regard. I've only seen the lakes choice related to a highlands map -- altho I have not tried all map types. Did you make the same choices, but not see these screens the second time, altho you had seen them the first time around? Hopefully this question makes sense?

Yeah, what you said. I pick a map script the first time around -- say Highlands. This has screens for peak density and lake type (at least). If I go through once and start a game, then quit back to main menu with the intention of changing one or more of these options, I do not see them the second time around -- I click Highlands -- next-- and it skips past these screens and goes right to the Civ select screen.

It's not a big deal obviously, I've just noticed it a few times.
