  • Civ4: Complete out outside Americas

Over the past few weeks a new version of Civilization IV was rolled out around the world except in the Americas, namely Civilization IV: Complete. This version includes the original Civilization IV as well as both expansion packs, Warlords and the recently released Beyond the Sword. It's available on DVD, in Europe for around €30 (or £18), in Asia for $46 USD (or €32.20), in Australia the prices vary from $67-$80 AUD (~$62-74 USD) and in New Zealand the recommended retail price is $80 NZD (~$62 USD). To the best of our knowledge this package is currently not available anywhere in the Americas and upon our request Firaxis and 2K Games were not able to tell us if and when it will become available there or for what price. We'll let you know when we learn more.

The name "Civilization Complete" makes me think that there will be no more XP's for Civ 4.

Any word from Firaxis on this?
I don't know why he saved my life. Maybe in those last moments he loved life more than he ever had before. Not just his life - anybody's life, my life. All he'd wanted were the same answers the rest of us want. Where did I come from? Where am I going? How long have I got? All I could do was sit there and watch him die.

That's fine as long as we get a patch to fix the patch that was supposed to fix the patch.

I didn't ask, because I know the answer ("no comment", or some variation thereof)

Whether to make another Civ4 XP or Civ5 is primarily a Firaxis decision, whether to release these repackaged versions of the game is a 2K decision, so I wouldn't draw any conclusions from it -- though with CivRev coming out next year I doubt we'll seen anything else Civ-related in 2008 (edit: patches aside )

I'm not really impressed with 2Ks handling of the Civ franchise in North America.

First they refuse to put the games out on DVD like they do in Europe. I hate having a bunch of CDs around that have a chance of being lost or damaged.

And now they seem to have no plans to release this complete version in North America. Which is a shame as it would be a perfect Christmas gift for my father.

There will still be another patch, don't worry

Have you tried gogamer.com? They sell a lot of international versions of games (in the US), perhaps they have this one?

that site still cracks me up ... and please be clear that WoL is not an expansion pack, but a fan mod.

This will eventually be available in US, depending on the sales of the on-going CIV4 gold edition. It is all marketing. They are not going to release the complete and kill the gold (yet).

If you want to see CIV4 complete sooner (I am!), tell you friends that don't buy the gold edition.
