Yeah, but the easy work around until they fix it is that if you use the sidebar thing in the civilopediao n the right there you will NEVER get the crash bug, it's only when you use text-body links in it.
So..
Side-bar it for now until they fix it, because even though it's a pain in the ass it works flawlessly. When I first got BtS I installed the latest patch (3.03) and was thinking it was a Vista+BtS bug until I found out a buddy of mine on XP had the same issue.
Actualy the link crash occured for me on the CD version as well.

Supposed to be fixed in the next patch, however you can tell steam to not update an individual piece of software.
Just install the software and as it's downloading the initial install (it doesn't patch until after installed) right-click on the software and click options (settings, tools, whatever), and there's a checkbox under "download and install patches automatically".
