Keep in mind that research provided by specialists is not accounted for in any of the demographics you list.

Mehmed was by far my favorite leader to play in Warlords when Expansive workers were even cheaper.

Mehmed is my current "civ of the week" so I'll see if I can make a good go of things.

Not looking good on the resource front at the moment but I've got some lovely neighbours. Tokugawa is my immediate neighbour and, miraculously, I've been given permission by Tokugawa to send a chariot through his land. Beyond him is Isabelle so it looks like I'll have some easy pickings here.

Lol, I must say I'm honoured by your words as a Turk.

They've made Mehmet II a powerful opponent, and I don't know if you've felt it too, but some AIs are more.. "cunning" than the others.

Like Gandhi and Caesar. I felt such cunning with Mehmed II, too. They watch for your weakness, and know when to do something.. and such. I always keep on my toes while playing against them. And that russian fellow, not stalin. Peter, was it? That guy is dangerous, too.

Mehmed is Organized/Expansive, which have a lovely synergy:

Cheap workers, granaries and lighthouses = fast expansion
Cheap harbours and courthouses = money-maker
Cheap harbours and lighthouses = coastal king
Participating in my threads is mandatory. Those who do not do so will be forced, in their next game, to play a power directly between Catherine and Montezuma.

Actually your missing two more features (shared by all Organized leaders)
Cheap Courthouses also means Spy Master from all the free esp points.

And Org leaders are also late game production masters with half priced Factories. Not only will they get those up quick they will be able to leaverage that to get Power Plants & Industrial Parks up fast as well.

But also horribly exposed if there are not many decent coastal sites around.

If there are then I think the Great Lighthouse/Colossus mix gives you a stronger play that will force certain early game choices which do not follow a lot of the techs here. But at least you get a head start of the Lighthouse.

Also, unless you are ORG, Courthouses are not really a very strong early game build.
