  • What happens to Culture of gifted cities?

In warlords, what happens to the culture of a city if it is gifted to another player (multi player).

I have a city that is being culture swamped by my close ally in a multiplayer game. I'm thinking of gifting it to him because it would be more productive as he could use the land, however it also borders an another civ.

If i gift it to him and the culture is lost it will be even worse of than when I had it.

    Thanks,
    A

Well, I liberated a conquered city, which was cut off by culture by a civ vassalized by a friend. I had a sizeable army in there too, and no way to get them out. So I figure I gift the bugger to it's previous owner, ie, liberate it. So it goes to him, he apparently gets all of it's culture back, and cuts of two other cities. Should have burned the libraries as I exited...

Not sure how that relates to you question, it might not...
I've allways wanted to play "Russ Meyer's Civilization"

Yeah, doesn't quite answer the question because I am the original owner of these cities. I want to know if the culture that I have built in those cities ends up going to the person I give them to.

In your case the culture was originally theirs. Thanks for the reply though.

normally it doesn't, although they'll have to start from scratch (but with all the culture bonuses from buildings you built there). I'm not 100% sure what would happen if it's an ally though....sry

I had a city gifted by a ally in a team game and it lost all culture, I was culture swamped by an AI.

I suppose that answers the question, you get a couple of garrison units free, so at least it was defendable, and I soon pumped up the culture.
