  • BTS+Vista=MAF? (Solver)

Alright first let me start with my specs:
    Pentium D 3GHz
    2GB's of Ram
    Radeon 9550 (512VRam I believe)
    Windows Vista Home Premium

and heres what I want to do
    An Earth Map (218 x 102) + around 23 civs + Marathon speed

Previously on Warlords I could play this MAF free to the middle ages then the file size hit about 2MB and started going MAF crazy. This was when I was running warlords and XP home. My question is, do you think I could play a full game on this same map in BTS? Do I need to include a windows switch of some kind?

    Any thoughts/help would be appreciated.

I'm not entirely sure if your video card could handle that (nor your CPU for that matter, though your video card would probably be more of the issue). But that has nothing to do with MAFs as far as I know... just slowwwww...

      There's to things I'm thinking:

      1. Unless you have a duel-core processor, running anything with Vista itself will slow down anything compared to XP.

      2. BTS does indeed (both the CD version & 303 patch) appear to use more resources, in particular graphics than Warlords. I'm not sure why that would be.

Are you running 32 bit or 64 bit Vista? If you are running 64 bit you could buy another 2 gig of ram and you might be able to run ok. Still, your vid card is underpowered.

BtS + Vista works fine here, on a pair of GeForce 8800 GTS's.

No problems with a Geforce 7950GT either.
