I bought an new expensive computer and it had an noisy and ineffefficient processor fan on it. I complained to the retailer and they change it to an high end silent fan instead. It should been included with delivery.
Even if you have to pay for it (let the seller install it, so you now it fit in the box and works properly) it is worth every penny.
The processor temperature fell several degrees and it is almost silent.

this might help too
this might help too:
What happens when you seal tight a PC case, strip out the fans and add eight gallons of cooking oil? You get a totally silent and cool PC. If you don't believe us, check out our video of a working AMD Athlon FX-55 and GeForce 6800 Ultra system submerged in an oil-filled case - or should we say tank.

1. Case off = BAD BAD BAD. This means your air circulation is incorrect. Case on with one side fan - or even without - is much better than case off generally.
While you are absolutely right in principle, in practise, I don't think so.
Most people ( * raises hand * ) will hand a bunch off cables and whatnot in there that will kill any airflow in which case, all becomes moot and it really doesn't make much difference imo.Is God willing to prevent evil, but not able? I don't have overheating problems that I'm aware of BUT bts just doesn't run right for me. The opening video is choppy, wonder videos are either choppy, slow, or lock up my pc. (I have to turn it off and completely reboot). Here is what my system is:
Windows Vista Premium
AMD Athlon 64x2 Dual Core Processor 3800+
DirectX 10.0
GeForce 6150SE nForce 430
ForceWare Version 158.18
Total Available graphics 319MB
Dedicated video memory 128MB
I've installed all the latest patches and updates for windows, my video card, and bts. It's come to the point that I can't enjoy playing bts. Also when I first installed bts, I feel like it was performing better then it is now. Can anyone please help me.
ps. I'm not a computer guru.

Bring back the 70's and their water beds - pump the heat from your pc to heat your waterbed! Or, run multiple pc's and connect them to your hot water heater! Think of the cost savings...

...yeah and watch the tile around turn into desert (which i assume it is already)...
Actually i always thought it was my imagination, but in my comp-room with the window cranked it is usually at nice temperatures during this season, but when a buddy comes over and we start a multiplayer game, using two comps, i often feel like the temperature rises. Maybe just my buddy´s body-heat, maybe just me breaking a sweat from loosing, but also maybe because of the two comps running....
BTW i find it rather amsuing what one said here "center of the room and dark helps"... i just imagine how you take your laptop into the middle of the room, cover yourself and the pc with a sheet and start playing, occasionally lifting the sheet to let fresh, cool air in...
Oh and i just have a CPU-fan (a good one tho (arctic cooler), which gets cleaned every 6 months or so) and thats it - no overheating problems at all (Athlon 64 3700+ venice and a Radeon X850 - stuffed with cables)...

So I finally got tired of the ASUS PC Probe alarm going off at 71C (bumping it up from 70 was a very temporary solution) and switching out of Civ now and again so the CPU would cool down. Opened up the box and blasted out some dust, esp on the Zalman heatsink. Now running about 9C cooler.
Still, going from no alarms the day before the patch, and then having them after leaves me wondering why I bothered updating. Those who would give up Essential Liberty to purchase a little Temporary Safety, deserve neither Liberty nor Safety. - Ben Franklin
