  • Creative wonder uses

Cristo Redentor becoming my new favorite wonder. The obvious use is "somebody sneak attacks so I pop into nationhood, draft a few and pop out" or "I got statue of liberty so I really like running republic, but I want to buy something so I'll go into US for a sec buy it then go back to republic".

But here are two more uses I have found.

Making the AI like you. . they demand a civic. . Tokugawa wants you to adopt mercantilism and give up that phat foreign trade? go ahead getting back to Free market just takes a click so its free rep with Japan.

My personal favorite is imposing civics on an opposing civ using espionage. I'm at war with Hannibal but I have Cristo Redentor. He takes a city near my border, so spy missions are cheap there. I build a few spies, temporarily switch my government to Bureaucracy and Organized religion so I can force HIM to adopt those with spy missions then I go back to nationhood and theocracy and continue building my army.

Anyone else find creative uses for a wonder? CR or otherwise?

Sorry I had to edit as I had pronouns without antecedents.

I do this with Shwedagon Pagoda.

Your CR techniques are quite interesting, I should use them. Thanks.

Can do the same thing if your leader is spiritual.

No, because you must wait several turns between changes.

Those CR techniques only work if you have the spiritual trait, some good ideas though!!

Are you sure? I'd swear I did it with Mehmet.

No I think they work all the time with all possible traits.

I love the Cristo Redentor, it's one of the strongest wonders in the game.

The Shwedagon is also interesting for switching to Free Religion very early. I once did this when I was on a continent with a few religious psycho's like Isabella and it was a very effective to don't get in between some sort of early religious war. The wonder is also a great way to skip all the early religious techs and still be able to make missionaries and the like.

I thought that if a non-spiritual civ built the wonder it basically gave them the spiritual trait and if a spiritual civ built it the wonder removes the 4 turn wait between civic changes.

Now that people are disagreeing I'm not so sure though!!

It is the strongest wonder in the game. Period.

Spiritual civs can build it in half the time, but the effect, as far as I know, is the same for all.

This is funny. Solver told us how good this wonder would be, but so many people wouldn't believe him.

the effect, no wait time for civic changes and unlimited civic changes per turn, is the same for any civ who builds it, whether or not they are spiritual. it is so good.

                            That's what I said.

But, yeah, Cristo Redentor is a must have wonder.

it might just be the best wonder. theres nothing like conquering an enemy civ, going to slavery and turning his population into useful infrastructure, the changing back and using his gold to buy units and buildings in your own cities.
