Create colonies

According to the short manual with my dvd,
and the cryptic description in the civilopedia

one should be able to on the one side, liberatie cities, to form new colonies
and on the other side, to donate cities to ur vasals,
both using some kind of button in the F1 screen

must be blind, but i dont find any such button,

using BTS out of the box, no unofficial patches yet

any help ?

the liberate button is on the domestic advisor screen (F1). its in one of the lower corners, i think its a fist or something. its not labeled and doesn't have a mouse-over label either.

I have entered a war to between japan and maya
both neighbours on a far away continent,

i would like to give the 2 cities i conquered on maya to my now voluntary vasal japan, but i only get the choice to return them to maya or to create a new colony ...

any way to force them to japan ?

You give them to Japan on the normal Diplomacy / trading screen.

I've got a similar problem. I've got cities that I want to give to my vassal Greece, but the option doesn't seem to be availible in the Diplomacy screen. On the Trading screen is 'Cities', but no cities are specifically mentioned underneath it.

thought that giving cities to vasals was disabled
to make sure people dont get around the boundaries, of vasals becoming independent again when there territory grows to much or grows to small ???

Wasnt blind before,
have it again : no colony button on the F1 screen ...

apparently it only appears when one of the cities has the fist icon besides it , so i can only create colonies, when some city wants to leave my empire
