BtS: building the UN = declaring war ???

    BtS: building the UN = declaring war ???



    Hi all!

    Have a look at the attached savegame. I am one turn from completing the UN. I have defensive pacts with Catherine and the HRE on my continent. Survaryarvaman (I know that is not his name but I can't be bothered to look it up) is annoyed on the second continent.

    No need to do anything - simply click 'end turn'.

    What happens then is that my deals with Survar... are cancelled because apparently "I have declared war with him." My defensive pacts with Catherine and the HRE are cancelled accordingly.

    Only thing is: I was not aware that I declared war with him so why is this war breaking out?

    The only thing I can think of is that somehow me finishing the UN triggers this war. And fair enough, if he gets angry with me for building the UN he is welcome to declare war, but why does it seem to be the other way around that I automatically declare war with him when building the UN ?

    Someone on his continent built the AP, I don't know who as I have not opened the world builder to check (since i don't want to ruin the game for me).

    Does anyone know what is going on ?

      ooh... thanks for pointing that out... I am having all problems in the world attaching it for some reason... here it is via the upload service in zipped format instead...hope this works....

        - Suryavaman declared war on Catherine.

        - Your defensive pact with Catherine was activated and you declared war on Suryavaman

        - A defensive pact is a one time deal (after it is used you have to make a new one) so your pact with Catherine is canceled.

        - Because you declared war on Suryavaman your pact with HRE is canceled.

        The thing that might have confused you further is the fact the you got the "You have declared war on Suryavaman II" message before the "Suryavman II has declared war on Catherine" message; but that is just how the message system works.

          I see... then perhaps the message system would benefit from some proper sequencing in order not to confuse things too much... thanks!
