    did anyone else get an Icon? My desktop Icon only starts vanilla.

    Same, here... I've seen a few people mention this. It doesn't even appear in the program files from Start menu. I've dragged the icon from the program file in Explorer and dropped it on the start menu.

    Have you got Vista?

        I haven't got BtS yet, but both vanilla and Warlords have icons on my Vista.

          Same problem here with Vista on my laptop. On my pc with XP the icon was there, but not on Vista.

          In Vista I dragged it from the 'gamelaunch center' or whatever that thing is called and put the icon on my desktop. Weird behaviour as for Vanilla and Warlords it perfectly created those icons.

          Was it intentional for Vista users or is this an installation bug?

            I didn't have a problem with vanilla or warlords either. Everyone who's got this problem so far (from the other thread too) seems to have Vista so the problem must lie there.

            Whenever I launch it I get told that it's trying to start and asked if I want to allow it to continue. This didn't happen with the warlords either.

              Should be an easy solution to that last problem, a solution I did minutes after I had finished installing Vista: Turn off that idiotic "security" system.

                Thanks, didn't realise I could turn it off! It'll be nice to get rid of those annoying messages!

                  My icon works fine now, but no Vista involved. My icon, on XP, said BTS, but tried to start vanilla. It kept asking for the correct disc, which annoyed me greatly when I thot it was starting BtS, and the disc was already there. As soon as I figured out what was up, I trashed that icon and put the one from the program file on my desktop.

                    1. Control Panel -> User Accounts ->
                    2. Turn User Account Control On or Off.
                    3. Now decide if you want to untick the box which say: 'Use User Account Control (UAC) to help protect your computer'.
                    4. Now you have disabled the User Account Control.

                      Thanks Nikolai. I just installed Vista 2 days ago and hadn't got around to figuring out how to turn that off. What the heck was M$ thinking with that?!

                          The icon issue is discussed in this thread on CFC, with a workaround provided.

                            This is Microsoft, folks. Some portion of the user population is bound to be pretty slow on the uptake.

                              Curiously, I got a program folder for Railroads! in my start menu.
