bts crash on startup

Anyone else have a problem with BTS crashing on startup with an error report? Seems to happen to me an awful lot, . Before it even loads xml, etc.

This is especially a problem with RtW and mods (which almost never loads). Anytime I quit and re-start civ, the problem always happens. The first time I load, its usually ok.

BtS hasn't crashed (the core game) for me yet, but I tried to play Rhye's three times now, and each time the game reboots to the desktop. I've never had a problem with any Civ game before; this is quite annoying. I haven't tried another scenario yet, since it's rare that I've seen the computer in the last week.

Edit: It's crashed at about the 20 to 30 turn mark each time, and I've played three different civs.

Does it crash as it is loading the mod? That's my problem. Quitting civ and then starting it again...which is what mods do...always results in a crash.

guess that's a different problem. usually I don't even make it in.

clearing the cache at startup by holding shift seems to help. dunno why it would.
