  • Making Live Easier on the Boards (Gen).

Having been a regular reader (not writer though) on this board, I would like to make a proposition to make live on Apolyton Forums easier.

Lots of time here are wasted by not having the correct information or asking for more specifications.

So I propose to give crucial information as well in the title of thread as in the first line of the first post.

The title of a thread could be followed by:

    General Question or Remark: (Gen).

Question or Remark about Civ4: (Civ4).

Question or Remark about Warlords: (Wrl).

Question or Remark about Beyond the Sword: (BtS).

More information then should be given in the first line of the post:

    Game: Civ4, Wrl or BtS

    Patch: number.

    Level: Chieftain up to Deity.

If the question or remark concerns a scenario or mods, its name should be mentioned.

More information about other settings can be added, but I think above mentioned is essential.

    Example:

Title Thread: Bug about Bombers (Civ4)?

First line of post: Civ4, 1.61, Prince.

I think this could be efficient and easy.

I agree on the name of the thread, but the first line should of course be dependent on the contents.

Well, the old way it used to be done is:

      [BtS] thread title

So the tag of what game was at the start.

      Somewhere people stopped using it.

Modders are more used to having [intro] text, but the general public will never make more descriptive titles.

        Stuff like

        'Hey..'
        'I need help!!111'
        'This sucks'

will always be a part of foruming.

An other, large forum I am at, they have rules against titles like. When a thread with a nonsense title is posted, a moderator write a standard message that says the title has to be changed or the thread will be closed. The title should always give the reader an indication of what it is about.
