Blue Marble and BTS

Normally, I'd just sit and play with it until I figured it out, but I imagine there will be other people who are curious about this. I guess I have two questions:

Is there any reason the Blue Marble terrain can't be used with BTS? (I can't think of any, but there may have been changes I'm not aware of.)

Which folder actually holds the terrain files in BTS? I poked around and the only spot I saw them was in the Warlords folder. Is that right or is there another place I haven't looked?

I just downloaded the latest version of Blue Marble...it installed itself into the BTS folders and works fine.

You'll need Blue Marble v3.0 and it works fine and looks gorgeous.

There is apparently a bug in the BtS code that makes the game crash upon starting a MP game with the Blue Marble mod, but I only play Civ4 SP and have not had a problem. Firaxis are aware of the bug and will address it in the next BtS patch.

As Kruztee said, v3.0 works with BTS, but only in SP AFAIK. If you play MP the game could crash for some reason. Haven't played MP so I don't know for sure

I'm sorry, but I'm not familiar with most Civ mods/accessories. What is Blue Marble?

Blue Marble is a mod than only changes the graphics, makes it look much better

It also changes the text font, and tweaks leaderheads in addition to the terrain graphics.

The only quibbles I have with it are the font change means a scroll bar will appear in the diplomacy window text for some leaders' diatribes. Not really breaking anything, but seeing a scroll bar when it could have been avoided is a pet peeve.

The other minor quibble is the mustache they added to Darius' beard. I have no problem with it being added, it just looks off.

Other than that, it looks awesome.

Sensei, those text and leaderhead changes are options; you can install just the basic Blue Marble mod if you want. I did install all of those mods (minus the new backgrounds), so I can't say definitively if it works, but I imagine it would. If I remember correctly, these are checkmark options when you run the Blue Marble install. So, I would guess in your case you would have to uninstall Blue Marble and then re-install with the unwanted options not checked off.

I'm not so sure of the text changes, myself; I may un-install those changes sometime in the future, also.

Well, like I said, it's a minor quibble, and while I know I can turn it off, the rest of the leaderhead changes are agreeable, so overall, it's worth keeping.
