  • BTS start - "your movies are not installed correctly"

Yesterday I installed BTS over my existing civ4+warlods and it worked perfectly. Today I tried using some mods with BTS and afterwards I got "your movies are not installed correctly" during the intro and then the game crashed. So I reinstalled BTS again, same problem. Now I unistalled everything and just installed civ4 and BTS without anything and still get the same message. I tried disabling intro movies but it still crashes when it's supposed to go into the menu. Civ4 works fine and starts without any problems. Anyone have any ideas?

edit: The new BTS patch doesn't help.

There is no new BtS patch yet AFAIK. Those ones that are being mentioned now are for Warlords and Vanilla Civ. It just adds the features for those two that comes with BtS. If you've added the patch after installing BtS, that could be what's causing your problems.

There is a BTS patch here http://www.firaxis.com/downloads/Pat...dPatch3.02.exe

It was the same with and without patch so that's not it.

Did you check the option to turn off in-game movies? I get that message in Vanilla and it's just because I turned the movies off. It doesn't affect the game in any other way.

Edit: Missed the crash part. After uninstalling, do you delete the old Civ4 folder? There may be leftover files in there that aren't removed when it uninstalls.

I deleted the folder and tried reinstalling a few times but it's no use. If I go into the civ config and disable the intro the game crashes with a short loop of the main menu music and black screen. I basically hear it start and then it crashes.

You might have a persistent file somewhere... make sure the cache is deleted (%userdir%\local settings\application data\my games\beyond the sword\).

            Which mod, btw?

Thanks snoopy, deleting the folder in "my games" and then reinstalling fixed it. I can't believe I missed that folder, I even removed the registry leftovers manually.

The mods I tried were the improved relations one and civ4 alerts. I guess staying away from mods before they're made for BTS is a good idea.

I've had exactly the same 'Your movies' problem and tried to take care of it by removing the files in the cache. I've reinstalled Civilization 4, warlords, and beyond the sword and nothing has worked. I've tried to disable the movies, downloaded the patch and still nothing. There's no problem when I run Civ 4 or Warlords but BtS just gives me the Your movies are not installed correctly message, and crashes.

If anyone can think of something I'm doing wrong let me know. Thanks in advance.

Yeah, mods made for other versions probably won't work initially...

spanisnquisition, no idea if it's not the cache. Perhaps you should put in a ticket with taketwo?
