  • Has BtS went gold yet?

I know the game is coming out soon, but I haven't seen any gold announcements yet. Maybe I simply missed it. If I didn't though, I know that a game will normally go gold two weeks before its release date. If BtS hasn't went gold yet does that mean it will hit retail later than its current release date?

As Locutus recently said, it should have. Two weeks before release is, in fact, not possible for most games. A few big titles can get from gold to retail in two weeks, most games need 3 weeks or 4. Given that we're looking at less than 10 days until the release date, it should have gone gold.

BtS should be on the shelf on Monday 7/23 in the US, I think....

I say this because I have it marked on my calendar... the calendar I look at several times each day to see when BtS is released.

The only calendar a person needs, really.

In previous iterations (in my experience), the day AFTER the "shipping date" (7/23 US) is the day I can pick it up at my game store.

So, Tuesday afternoon I will call (if they haven't called me first), and hopefully pick it up -- it's already paid for. Hmm, I suppose I wouldn't mind if it arrived on Monday.

It's out in Australia already and going to be out in Europe this Friday, so it must have gone gold, they just didn't tell us.

It is supposedly out here in NZ this Friday!

All he'd wanted were the same answers the rest of us want. Where did I come from? Where am I going? How long have I got? All I could do was sit there and watch him die.

Agreed with Jaybe, the computer games in the US usually don't tend to ship until the offical beginning of sale date and often they don't arrive in the local stores until it's too late to sell that day.

This is in contrast to DVDs that usually arrive in the stores a few days before offical sell date.

Anyway, it's certinately gone gold, for some reason it was released in Australia before the rest of the world.

US manufacturers tend to ship overseas way in advance of the official sell date, in order to give the distributors in the overseas countries time to get the stuff and on the shelves to meet that date.

It's much easier to predict a continental US shipment time, on the other hand (no customs delays, no "storms at sea" etc). So, they ship exactly that many days in advance in the internal US.

In addition, the manufactured qty for the US tends to far overshadow the qty required for the overseas order. e.g., your orders in Oz are 25,000 units, and your orders in the US are 750,000 units. So, those extra few days can give you critical time to get your US orders finished.

We never got the Gone Gold announcement so clearly IT NEVER DID!

Sure you may see it in stores already or any day soon (if in North America) BUT DON'T BE FOOLED!

Can't you people see this is nothing more than some mass induced hypnosis brought on by folk who wanted to get a hold this expansion so badly?
