Mods and random map generator

I may be a bit ahead of things and should probly just wait and see in a few weeks!

Civ2 addond Test of Time brought 2 complete mods to the game, Fantasy and Sci-Fi, complete with everything including a random map option.
I'm wondering if Beyond the Sword will be doing the same? Or are they all just gonna be fixed map mods (boring).
I'd hope, since they are saying it;s the biggest expansion ever it will be better than Test of Time, but I can't see it somehow. That brought about 10+ mods, 2 complete ones and multi layered maps.

Alternately, is there an easy way to play fixed map mods but on a random map?

If by mods you mean scenarios, then yes there will scenarios with random maps. Although you can't play fixed map scenarios on random maps.
