  • Issues with Patches on Mac OS

Ok, so I just got Civ Iv, installs no problem, then I try to log on to multiplayer it up. The game tells me I need to download patch v208. I download said patch. The game tells me I need to press "OK" to quit the game and install. I click "OK." The game quits, and nothing happens. Finally I manage to find where my computer put the download, but I cant figure out how to open the patch and make it install (It's labled as v208.exe).

So I go to the Civ website to see if I'll have more success there. What I find is that according to the website, the most up to date patch is version 1.61. Being very confused, I download that as well, and again, I cannot get it to open. The file is labled "Civpatch.1.61.exe" (oh and as a second note, the website said this patch was for all versions of Civ IV, so I assumed that included macs.)

I'm really not a particularly computer savy guy, so I really have no idea what I'm suposed to do at this point. Is there anyone else out there who's been having a problem like this?

For the record, my Computer is a Powerbook Laptop running Mac OS X, Version 10.4.10

Do you have Warlords? Is there a Warlords release for Mac? 'Cause 2.08 is a Warlords patch...

You need to download the patches manually and install them (they come as a .dmg with an installer inside). The in-game patching utility always downloads the windows patch, it won't work on the Mac version of Civ4/Warlords.

You can find a link to both patches (for vanilla and Warlords) on the Aspyr website or the Civfanatics forum's Civ4 - Mac section.

        Narmox.

PS: yes, Kuciwalker, there is Warlords for Mac. It was released last November...
