  • Will my computer run BtS?

I've been doing some upgrading lately. By the time BtS comes out I'll have a system with:

    AMD 6000 X2 Dual-Core
    Geforce 8800 Ultra
    4 gig of 800 mhz DDR2 RAM
320 gig SATA hard drive and a 200 gig IDE drive
    Windows Vista Home Premium

Do you think my computer will be good enough?

4 gig is overkill, Civ4 is 32-bit only AFAIK.

I had the slots so I felt obligated to fill them up. Besides, now there's plenty to spare for Windows so Civ 4 can use the max it can handle for itself.

I was under the impression that the system reqs were the same as for vanilla...

I'm not sure how good it'll run, I believe you need more HD space... 1 Terra byte is minimum recommended
This space is empty... or is it?

Your computer will refuse to run BTS.
It wants to calculate the orbits of all stars and planets in the universe and calculate possible collissions and suggest alternatives routes.

              That'll cause a problem.

I'm liking it myself, especially Media Center. I have my TV routed through my system and a bunch of DVD's to watch. Plus several gigs of music to listen to. With the remote that came with the tuner card, it's adding a whole new meaning to the term "coach potatoe".

No, that's only with the sci-fi scenario.

Yes, MC is fantastic, but about the only thing that's works out-of-box in Vista.

I was under the impression you could access 4 gig with 32 bits. 30 bits is 1 gig, * 4 (2^2) is 4 gig, isn't it?

Yes, that gets a bit annoying after awhile doesn't it?

32-bit Windows limits individual processes to addressing 2 GB of memory, though it can handle up to 4 GB.

Actually, the actual CPU and graphic usage decreased slightly between the last vanilla patch and Warlords. And so if your running Warlords with no problems you shouldn't with BTS.

(Hopefully the Memhed leaderhead problem on some graphic cards Warlords on CD won't duplicate on BTS's new leaders.)
