Playing Warlords the game crashes very very very often you can almost count on it only question is when, after 5 10 or 20 mins of play sometimes even an hour. Afterwards my CPU is at 64 or so celsius. Cooling down quickly ofc. Any pointers on how to combat. All my graphics options are about the lowest i can get them and res @ 1024x768. I got an Asus A7N8X Deluxe MB with AthlonXP 2800+ (2,08Ghz) and RADEON 9800 XT with 256 MB and 1 Gig of DDR @333 Mhz Running Windows XP. Is the game too much for my system or something else?

I used to run Civ4 comfortably with P4 1.3 GHz, 512MB RAM, and a GF4mx. Your system should be able to handle it fine, but you may want to avoid bigger maps.
CPU temp seems fine for an AthlonXP, though it never hurts to cool it more.
Make sure your drivers are up to date. Or, if it's a new problem and Warlords used to work fine, have you recently installed any new software?
A full uninstall/reinstall of Civ4/Warlords may also help.

I HAD up to date everything: drivers and latest patches for the Civs. Rummaging through the CTD topic, "downgrading" to 4.12 catalyst drivers without that damned resource monster of a control panel seemed to do the trick.
CPU temp even seems to stay lower @ 60 or so C during game now. I already miss the constant crashing Thanks anyways for replying

With the 7.1 I had artifacts show up and sometimes it would freeze up and I'd have to reboot.
I'm surprised you went that far back on the driver.
