  • autosave

    I can't find where to change how often the game autosaves. I'm getting memory errors occasionally (playing the Giant Earth map, 24 civs), so I'd like to autosave every turn.

    It's in the .ini file. Don't have the specifics at the moment. I initially got the info from the Better AI thread (here or at CFC).

      Thanks. It's not even 0AD and I've already gotten this a couple times. I don't even want to think about the modern era

        The interval between autosaves is controlled in the CivilizationIV.ini file stored in your "My Documents" folder.

        Look for this:
        ; Specify the number of turns between autoSaves. 0 means no autosave.
        AutoSaveInterval =

        If you want the game to save every turn then set this:
        AutoSaveInterval = 1

        Good luck with memory problems.

          I have 2GB; this is absurd.

            Isn't Giant Earth larger than huge (or huge terra, even)? And with 24 civs, that is obviously quite a load.

            Warlords or vanilla? Warlords takes more resources (per my and many others' experience). Hopefully BtS will be more efficient.

              Warlords. It's a 200x90 map.

                  Cute little thing, isn't it!

                  You obviously aren't doing anything else with that computer. I think I'll forego Giant Earth ... I've only got 1Gig on my gaming computer.

                    Also, try not playing in windowed mode. That will save you some memory.
