  • Does the civ you play affect other civs reaction to you?

It seems that way, but I don't know if it is that way in the rules.

Last game I played the mongols, and everyone loved me for some reason. I couldn't figure out why they loved me. I really wasn't doing anything different. I was hindu, and the rest of the world was buddhist, confucian. Only the English were Hindu. I took 6 of their cities, and they still loved me shortly thereafter.

The Japanese were pleased with me. And Isabella too!!!!!!! I even had an open border agreement with Isabella! Not Tokagawa, that's impossible. I was able to trade maps fairly easily. I made a couple defensive pacts with Cyrus. I never had this good of diplomatic relations (except maybe on the easy levels).

And my army wasn't that big. I lost most of it due to a strike after conquering the English. It was very up to date though. And I eventually rebuilt it with cavalry and tanks later.

If you are an aggressive civ, are other civs nice to you because they are scared of you? It seems like when I play a peaceful civ like Elizabeth of the English, everyone is attacking me and trying to take my cities.

P.S. I was playing Kublai Khan, not Ghenghis. I ended up with my second highest space ship victory score.

I don't think so. I'm testing all 24 civs on Earth, and so far, as Genghis, I've been attacked by both Qin Shi Huang and Wang Kon at seperate times. My army was very large (for me) and I really took the fight to both of them. They both love me; I think it was mainly because of borders encroachment that they attacked.

I have also been attacked by Mehmed while playing with Alexander, and again, I think it was a border issue (Istanbul and Athens are very close). At the same time, it's hard to keep a massive Greek army on Earth, so he probably figured I was easy pickings.

yeah the border things definately is an issue. I had the continent all to myself after I kicked the English off. Thogh the English were friendly with me before that. But that was before our borders really got too close (700 AD).

But even without that, I sometimes get attacked by civs on other continents.

This game I actually did have Isabella at furious. but I was able to get her to pleased. Not sure how I was able to do that. I really was expecting her ships to be heading over my way like they usually do, but that never happened.

That's impressive. Unless we share a religion, Isabella always hates me. Even after I lose the state religion with my civics.

Sounds like a game bug more than anything.

Also keep in mind that things like trade, what civics you are using, and of course religion affect the AI's opinion of you. I am assuming you know this, but it might explain why they all "loved" you.

Did you happen to check out the little "relationship points" chart for these civs? It explains exactly why they love or hate you.

And since you only play as the Romans, and go and use your Praets on them, do you blame them?
