  • Flipping a city: Upgrading UBs?

I just played a game where Hannibal's city of Utica flipped to me (as Spain). I noticed I was getting an extra culture (besides the religion). I found out that when Utica flipped, it kept its castle, which was now a Citadel. Does that mean that other UBs can "upgrade" and immediately help your civ? It would be nice to have an instant Madrassa or Hammam when you flipped a city.

Also, I noticed that the "riots" caused Hannibal's units to lose half their strength. I've seen this with rebellions before, so that's not the issue. Arabia also had two archers and a settler in the city, and the archers droopped from 3 to 2.1 strength (70%). I guess even friendly units in the city are not immune to the citizens?

When I (as Rome) capture a city, any market becomes a forum. So I would assume it would also occur if a city flipped.

I wouldn't be surprised if third-party units also lost strength in a flip, though I have never noticed it happening.

      Thanks, Jaybe.

I didn't notice it before. I just thought it odd.
