My Civ playing cycle goes something like this: I'll play feverishly for about 2 months, then I'll have a break for about a month. Having a valuable city sacked by the AI or having 2 or more AI nations declare war at the same time when I am unprepared is the usual trigger for a break.
I have a shelf full of games I never play thanks to Civ IV, so any break periods are welcome as far as I'm concerned.Voluntary Human Extinction Movement http://www.vhemt.org/

I am getting burned out by all the warmongering in civ4. How is if fun having the aztecs declare war on you every 15 to 20 turns?
Eventually I wiped out the japanese and aztecs completely. They just became annoying. What was worse is somehow the aztecs were dragging the chinese into war with me. I hate fighting 2 civs at once. it's quite difficult. So after wiping those 2 out, I figured I was close enough to domination, I'd wipe out the chinese for their backstabbing. Rameses had to go too to get the 64% land area. Poor guy, he was my only friend. Sorry bub.
