CIV burnout

I have experienced it.
To counter, I rotate a couple of other games in (right now Sid Meier's Pirates! and FIFA 07). After a while, I feel like playing civ again, and I regain my lust for it.
I also sometimes stay away from the computer for a couple days. That can help.

I don't play anything as much as I used to (I'm currently back to Civ4, which explains my presence here again).
I like to switch between "action" type games - think GTA on the PS2 - and "thinking" games like Civ4. After a stretch of one type, I'm ready for a change to the other."I'm a guy - I take everything seriously except other people's emotions"

I am like that with all games. There are periods when I don't want to play a particular game or genre. So I alternate between them. The difference is, with my favorite series, the "burnout" periods are shorter and the enthusiasm periods are longer.
I may take a break from Civ for a while, play something else, but in the end, I always get that powerful desire to go back. Great game .Solver, WePlayCiv Co-Administrator

Like Solver says, it happens with most games.
I find myself playing Civ less these days. It's been quite a while since I booted up single player, whereas I used to never go a month without at least one game. I still play MP though - DGs and some PBEMs. I'm sure eventually my civ time will go back up though.

Yeah, I am not currently actively playing the game, I've had other things on my mind ( ) and I've been busy with work...but I am sure at some point I will get an itch for a civ gameSpeaking of Erith:
