If you start a non-Ancient game, which religions you get is random. You get several if there are only 2 or 3 civs in the game. So it's just the way the random numbers fall for you. It doesn't really matter, given how all the religions are the same anyway.

No they are not random. In a single player game when I start a non-Ancient game I always get Judaism.

It doesn't really matter, given how all the religions are the same anyway.

True, but I still don't like knowing which one I get before I start.

It's random, you just keep getting the same random result. Try starting a Modern game with 7 civs and founding several cities, you should find you get one religion, I wonder which...

Judaism.

In the now surly 20 non ancient games I have started I always got Judaism.

On the other hand, if you start a Modern game with 3 civs, you should get 2-3 religions...

I tried to look through the SDK to see how it's determined, but I couldn't find it ...

Also I've found the reason why it is always Judaism. In the XML files Judaism is the first in the list. If I swap it with any other religion then I get that one. However some of the icons are messed up.

Is anyone else experiencing this or is it just me?

If, instead of picking a random religion, it always picks the first one in the XML, there's something wrong with your game.

Yeah, that is strange, although I can't say I have ever played anything other than an ancient start...

Try it. An industrial or modern start is very different from an ancient one. Planes and all the other modern weapons really play a role as opposed to an ancient start. The main problem is that AI does very weak starts.

Doesn't anyone have an idea what is wrong? Or is there anything wrong at all? I mean does somebody else get a different religion on an industrial start. (I mean really gets and not just think he should.)

I always have Judaism too when I don't play ancient game, I think it should be random but it is not
