So, you get Civ 4 (Lets be nice as say, 30), All of Civ III (20, lets say), Civ II ToT (10), Civ I (Not available outside of collecter's items, so not counting a price), Civ the Card Game (I'd pay about 12 for a new set by itself, but let's say 0), extra stuff like 'Making Of' DVDs (Again, lets say 0...)
Uh, no. Civ4 is about $15 on ebay. Civ3 is like $2. ToT, Civ1, and Civ2 are each about the same.

Anyway, Civ2, Civ3, ToT, and Civ1 are outdated and I have no idea why you'd want to buy them or play them for any length of time.

doubt the making of are terribly exciting, but anyway, sounds like the card game is good. clearly not worth $40 though i would like to know more about it baby.

When I collect resources at the start of my turn do I have to spend them by the end of the turn or I lose them, like mana in magic the gathering, or can I horde my resources for use in later turns?

      Thanks for any possible help.
It's not like Magic, you can hold onto them as long as you'd like.

Now that I think about it that makes more sense, I can keep collecting resources from plots over multiple turns in order to save up for a wonder - just like I would need more than one turn to build the pyramids in civ 4!

Sorry to double post, but I have one more question

Is there a contingency for what happens when the play deck runs out of cards?

I started making a computer conversion of the card game a while ago, but stopped.

Would there be interest in it if I started up again?

I"ve had games where we've had to reshuffle the deck about every three turns, but by that point we were nearly at endgame. In fact, by the time you have that many cards out of the deck, you SHOULD be at endgame.

Oh, so I can take the discard pile shuffle it, and turn it upside down to form a new play deck, a bit like in Gin Rummy?

Yup, that was my understanding of the rules.

                    Which I've now lost. >.<

Also, try playing, if you havn't already, with the discard pile face-down - that way, you can't see what other people have discarded.

                    Erm, about the rules...

Could someone post the playing order? I vaguely recall once playing with the draw and discard last, but the last couple games we've switch to draw and discard be right after gathering resources.

lemmie get this straight, you want to make a computer game of a card game based on a computer game???

WHY NOT JUST PLAY THE FRIGGEN GAME ON YOUR PC???

I would like to see it. I think I enjoy the simplicity of the card game compared to civ 4. It's quite refreshing.

I ordered this a week ago (should arrive next week!) - although I have CDs half a world away with all the Civs on them, this looked like a nice way of having all of them together, rather than with the scattered releases I've been collecting since 1991.

Then I saw the card game was included, and got excited, because I played a card game in Oz with some fellow Civ-fanatics (that I met in the REAL WORLD...yes, I still can't believe that summer actually happened) - it was complex but mega-fun.

But then I realised that the game I played was the boardgame. Damn.

Ah well, I'll have all the Civs in one nice looking set soon. And printed tech trees for (hopefully) all of them - yeah baby. I was most disappointed III and IV didn't when I bought them.

Back to the ROOTS of addiction. My first missed poll!

Because the card game is fun in a slightly similar but still distinctly different way?

Sir, I must request that you respect our desire to play something different from what you desire to play. While Civ 4 is indeed a great game, a change of pace should be encouraged every now and then.

Meanwhile, STFU, and let us play our damn card game.
