  • Is it possible to destroy a civilization culturally??

I'm on a map now where I'm going for a cultural victory. The Spanish are nearby, and I've already flipped 2 cities from culture, and there's like 3 more that are below 50% spanish, they'll flip real soon. After that they'll only have 2 cities...will I be able to make them all flip over to me (their capital included)??

It is possible, but very, very rare due to the way units prevent flips - the AI will end up with it's entire army in one city, preventing the flip. Something really quite weird has to happen for the final flip to occur...

I didn't think you could flip a capital. It would be interesting to know for sure.

You can. I gave myself a settler, infantry and few hundred great artists in worldbuilder, and flipped a capital. In actuall game? Not an old capital, I'd say. Forcibly relocated, sure.
I've allways wanted to play "Russ Meyer's Civilization"

Blake is right... All it takes is 10 troops or so and a city is flip proof. When the AI gets down to its last city it'll likely just sit there stockpiling troops.

I didn't realise it was possible to flip a capital - interesting - although I doubt that could be at all useful...

LOL I'm finding that out. They have a city that's 30% spanish right now, 70% me....but they have 22 units in it. the thing won't flip.

Technically it is, but doubt you'd ever see it in normal gameplay conditions.

I remember someone played like a tiny pangea map with 18 civs and he flipped/destroyed a few civs culturally.

Also, in the Fall from Heaven mod you can build units that can do a mini 20 culture bomb. I set my whole civ to building these and went on an aggressive culture conquest campaign. Like 20 cities flipped to me including a few capitals.

I once played a French OCC game on a world map.

The map was quite large but Europe is a bit tight. Eventually London and Berlin were both razed (which is what happens to a flip in OCC.)
