automated railroad building

Is there a way to automate workers to "build railroad to" a certain place? I know there was in Civ 3, but I can't see one in Civ 4.

Yes, tell them to build a road, and click to the place, they build railroads along those roads then(Even if there aren't any roads too)

They build the shortest road/rr from where they stand, I seem to recall. As the rr's no longer infinitize movement, one needs to actually consider shortest routes from every city all the others... Previously you could just build one connection, and you were all set...
