The English getting on with things quietly whilst the Americans are just annoying and loud...who could say this game isn't accurate?

Is there anyone out there who actually understands Quecha (Incas), Nahuatl (Aztecs), or Mandinke (Mali)? Never mind Latin. It would be interesting to understand any of them while playing that Civ. And do the Egyptians speak Arabic or ancient Egyptian?

you are joking right. It's the English who are arrogant and obnoxious (though I admit not loud)

          You're thinking of the French.

The Germans sound ... well, it's like the German equivalent to American English. I guess this is as it should be.

Come to think of it, if Firaxis ever includes an Austrian civ (hey, we're nearly as important as Poland ), it will be really funny to hear units talking in Austrian German.

Other than the French having much better food, I fail to see much of a difference, at least in this regard.

Thanks to the last 20 years, we Americans are in no position of accusing anyone else of being arrogant. Pot, kettle, and all that.

Have you ever lived in an area where there were a bunch of them on leave? They're a bunch of obnoxious jerks. I'm sure there's some nice guys in the crowd but the rest of them destroy the image for everyone else.

yeah I was in the navy. I was a good guy. honest. But we were a bit wild, because we had a lot of steam to blow off. Spending around a month out at sea with no port calls is a pain in the ass. we work 7 days a week. And in engineering we worked at least 12 hours a day.

but a lot of my buddies were annoying. All they wanted was strip clubs. I never noticed any strip clubs in Europe. I guess they don't need them with nude beaches and all. And Naples cleaned up all the prostitute. . Only kidding, I have no desire to mess around with a street hooker. I did see Rome, which was cool. But I really needed a stress relief. And I couldn't find any cool way to do it in Italy.

That's an understatement. I live in Victoria BC Canada, and every so often we'll get a big ship come in with American sailors cruising the streets for a few days. The locals just cringe and tend to make themselves scarse, and the police are out in full force for the time they're here. I'm sure the bar owners love having them around though.

We've had ships from other nations stop in as well, but the Americans are by far the worst. The Japanese are down right polite and respectful, and the Australians and British, while rude and boorish as well, aren't nearly as bad as the Yanks.

Hang on, I said annoying and loud, and you accused me of saying arrogant and obnoxious

Which reminds me, I forgot another stereotype. Thick

I like how the Roman missionaries sound when they succeed in spreading religion - "Hudlu-babies!"

I've got no idea what hudlu-babies are, or how they differ from regular babies, but sure sounds funny.

I thought each one of the missionaries had a religion-specific quote, not a civ-specific one.

Seeing this thread again, I remembered to check the sound files for the Spanish. A couple of them for what is said when selected do have the lisp as one might expect from Spanish spoken in Spain, but the vast majority of sound files do not have the lisp.
