I just launched the space ship in a single player game in 1742

I had 86 Cities at the time of launch.
102,000,000 citizens

The experiment for this particular game was to always expand by any means necessary so that my science rate could never exceed 60% due to the cost of maintenance of new cities.
I stopped expanding when space race became a factor.

Heres a shot of my empire from space.
Looks like a launched in 1744, not 1742 (it was my last autosave). You can see the last piece of the ship being produced in Samsun my former military pump (134 production a turn).
Samsun was the only city making military units during the game. It had 2 great genearl instructors, the iron works, heroic epic, and a military acadamy. 1 city raider 2 tank every turn.
