  • Simple idea about the Manhattan project

You know how no one ever builds the Mantthan Project in Civ4 (or Civ3 for that matter)?

How about giving the builder of the project a free nuke? Not the ICBM ones, but something like a 1 time use plane (ie the 2 in Japan). It would have the range of a bomber, and couldn't launch from a carrier (or range of a fighter, and could be launch from a carrier)

It ceranty make it a must build, if only to make sure Shaka or Khan or some other blood thrisy ruler didn't get it.

That would make it a more interesting wonder to build
This space is empty... or is it?

How likely is it for a leader to use a nuke, anyway? Do they need to be Furious, or does Annoyed suffice?

          Good idea mrBoo

I'm currently playing a game where I've already won.
I'm giving all the technology to build nukes to one of my worst enemies.
Once he has all the tech I'm going to aggravate him as much as possible to see what happens.

I'm just wondering. Does anyone want to make a mod out this? I have bunch of other idea too (mostly with the Terra map. ie Colony Captials, expanise settler early game, cheap latter, having the minors be more backward)

              Well, so is the internet.
I'm not buying BtS until Firaxis impliments the "contiguous cultural border negates colony tax" concept.

All civs should have to build a national project/wonder called Nuclear Test or something before they can build nukes.

You could make it a credible threat with the first use of a nuclear weapon being free (no diplomatic penalty). You could even carry it further that the first use of a nuclear weapon would end a war and give the attacking civ some huge settlement benefit (say, 25% of the victim civ's science and production for 10 turns).

Of course, the practical result of this would probably be getting nuked by Monty or some other madman every game...

Maybe have a special type of research for a brief time -- you would have to split your commerce between science, money, culture and WMD. The percentage diverted to WMD could be public, and civs could have the capacity of asserting diplomatic penalties on countries researching them, after the "non-proliferation" UN treaty was signed.

Which brings up a related idea. I'd like to see the UN treaties not be fully prohibitive. You could choose to go against a treaty, but in effect you would then be pulling out of the treaty, and civs would respond with negative rep, trade sanctions, etc.
