Game Crashes in 300AD

I have just recently installed CIV 4 on my computer with the newest patch 1.61 .

I have been playing very well without any slowdowns or graphical problems. But when i get in to the 300AD region it crashes everytime. I tried starting a game after this age in a later age but it crashes on start up. As far as I can tell from the logs there is no errors. I think its happening because I am changing ages and it crashes when i go to the newer ages.

Does anyone know a way around or fix to this. I have updated all my drivers and did the many different fixes to the ini for memory issues but this changed nothing.

Have you tried un-installing and re-installing (re-patching, etc.) the game? I'm afraid that's about all I can recommend, as it's very strange that you would be crashing and I'm not sure what to suspect except a corrupted install.

Is it on 300 AD, or around 300 AD?

It might be useful if you could make a savegame just before it crashes for you, and upload it.

Yes it seems to be exactly at 300AD or the turn after 300AD.

I did some testing since it seems I just got a great Prophet around the time I am crashing. If i leave him alone on the city he was created then i crash the next turn. If I move him then I crash the turn after that. I tried using him on the city but that just caused me to crash on the next turn.

I added my save game below. I am really not sure if its that I am changing ages or if it has something to do with the prophet.


Update:

I just reinstalled and without any patches at all I am allowed to start at the reinssance age where before in 1.61 it crashed upon loading. The only problem is that I have alot of graphical errors and the movies don't work to well where before in 1.61 it didn't

What video card do you have? If it's something graphical, might be an obscure card/driver error...

I have since updated to patch 1.52 instead of 1.61 and the graphical errors are gone before it was mostly wonder videos and the intro videos not playing correctly.

Every thing is going great now i think there must be a bug in 1.61 .

I played with patch 1.52 and for the last hour or so and have gotten in to renassance age with no crash and past 300AD with no crash. Starting a new game with a later age does not create a crash either. No more graphical errors in the wonder videos either.

In 1.61 before i reinstalled I was crashing to desktop every time i tried to start a map past renassance or played a game that reach renassance age.

My problem is fixed now even if I am using an older patch it runs fine for me

Might it be possible that you had a corrupted 1.61 installation? I haven't heard of such a strange bug that 1.61 would introduce.

I guess its possible but its working currently so i dare not disturb it!
