I need some help customizing games on Rhye's earth map. Basically what I want to be able to do is the following:
1)choose which Civ's are in the game
2)which leaders (i.e. select which leader you want AFTER you choose your civ)
3)toggle historically accurate starting locations
Ideally I'd like to set all this right from the Civ IV menu, basically just like when you select a custom scenario. Is it possible to edit the map file in notepad so that all these options are selectable via the in game start menu's? AFAIK Civ II and Civ III let you do this after started the game instead of having to edit .xml files or whatever.
I have no knowledge of coding or programming anything, but how difficult would it be to write an external program outside of Civ IV that would streamline the editing process so you don't have to figure out the map and .xml files?
My computer chugs mid to late game on every Civ IV game I've played. This part of the reason I want so much flexibility because I'm trying to find the "sweet spot" between number of Civ's and performance. I'm running an Athlon XP mobile at 2.1Ghz, 1.5GB DDR400, ATI 9800 Pro 128MB on an old Abit NF7-S v2.0.
Any help Ryhe or anyone else can offer me in this would be very, very appreciated. This is all I've wanted from the day I got Civ IV and unfortunately the added moddability made basic editing such as this very very advanced.
