Hey, you're right. You get a 20% bonus for each OR prereq , not a maximum of 20% like I thought.

That means you can get almost 90% bonus while researching writing.

Thank you for the explanation of this. I only noticed it last night; my first guess was that extra beakers after completing a tech were distributed over the course of the research of the next tech, but that didn't explain how the "bonus" beakers kept increasing in number. It all becomes clear, now. (Other civs were discovering the tech in the course of my research).

A spinoff of this is that as you give a civ a tech, you are making it easier for other civs to research that tech.

Edit: the thread title should be more expressive, though.
